About the Artist
Dan Ellerbroek is a self-taught painter originally from Tucson, Arizona.  He grew up being inspired by the landscapes of the Southwest and the artwork of those who have painted there, such as Maynard Dixon and Georgia O'Keefe.  It was these desert vistas that he first began to explore through painting.  Ellerbroek is particularly inspired by the places where human development converges with nature: roads cutting through the open desert, signs of mining activity in the shape of the mountains, or electric wires coexisting with plant life. He documents not the subjugation or destruction of nature, but rather simply observes, through painting, those points of intersection where human activity meets the natural world, and the sometimes subtle, sometimes surprising beauty that can be found along that edge.

Recently Ellerbroek left the desert with its familiar landscapes and relocated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he now turns a painterly eye on a new, urban landscape.

Ellerbroek's paintings are in both corporate and private collections.
